Liverpool - European City of Culture, and, for one night only, European City of South Coast Space-core and Accessible-yet-commercial-unviable melodic hardcore. A great show, with wonderful hospitality and music from Hammer Attack (doom) and Zangief (a bit more doom). Earth to Mars played their best set of the tour to date, space-man costumes shining under the spotlights. Pete to Mars couldn’t believe no CDs were sold, and after a spot of charity was rebuked by a all-to-kind punter (“I can’t even give them away!”), stormed out to the front to “Sell some to those f--king smokers outside”. That’s the spirit. CircusAct played a cracking set, spurred on by some enthusiastic and biblically-drunk old friends from Newtown. Post-show we were treated to an evening in the local emo/worst-music-I’ve-ever-heard bar. Despite the ready availability of floor space, Pete and Dan insisted on sleeping in the van. Troopers to a man. Next stop. Harrogate !
